Enrollment is now closed. This introductory course is for those who are interested in learning about the private sponsorship of refugees.
In this course you will learn about the different types of sponsoring groups, the Canadian Immigration programs for refugee resettlement, refugee and sponsor eligibility requirements, the application process, settlement planning, calculating the cost of sponsorship, overseas processing, and post-arrival responsibilities.
Participants will also have the option to engage with the course facilitator, other participants, and enhance their learning by participating in weekly video chat sessions and discussion forums.

This is the mandatory training course for organizations which have been incorporated for at least two years, and have settled a minimum of 2-3 private sponsorhip cases within the past three years, and, are applying to Become a SAH in 2024. Course certificates for this mandatory training will only be issued during the application period for 2024.
This course has 7 modules and quizzes, plus a final exam.
- It will take approximately 6 hours to complete.
- You must complete the Knowledge Assessment Quiz before you will have access to the course modules and quizzes.
- All module readings and quizzes must be completed before you will have access to the final exam.
- You must obtain a 60% passing grade to receive the certificate.
- Any final exams submitted after 12:00pm Eastern on October 4, 2024 may not receive their certificate in time to submit with your SAH application.
- As a minimum, the head of the organization, the main contact, and any signing authorities must submit their course certificate along with their application.
